5 Things to Do with Kids in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a playground for adults but would it be suitable for kids? It is known internationally as the best vacation spot for entertainment, gambling, nightlife, wedding, international dining and affordable ‘all you can eat’.

America’s Sin City is where the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building and the gondola of Venice exist alongside lush tropical surroundings and arid land. Where can you find pockets of paradise and things to do with kids in Las Vegas?

Here are Travelmath’s 5 things to do with kids in Las Vegas:

One: Flamingo Wildlife Habitat at Flamingo Las Vegas
Located in the heart of Las Vegas, the Flamingo hotel is a self-contained casino and resort. Inside, guests can enjoy the tropical Wildlife Habitat and a 15-acre Caribbean-style water playground.

Flamingo’s Wildlife Habitat is free for guests and the public. It has a variety of exotic birds, fish and turtles including two rescued brown pelicans. The small park is built with waterfalls and lush tropical plants. Pink flamingos, hummingbirds, swans and exotic ducks are a few feathered friends kids can run with or watch while you take a quiet rest.

Note: You don’t have to stay at the Flamingos Hotel to visit the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat.

Two: Hoover Dam and Lake Mead
Take a day trip and a 43 minutes drive from Las Vegas to the historical Hoover Dam. Hoover Dam was constructed in the 1930s. It was then the largest hydroelectric power and man-made structures in the world. Hoover Dam is situated at the Colorado River in Black Canyon in Nevada and Arizona.

Visitors can take the half hour guided Powerplant Tour and the one hour Dam Tour. There are many more activities you can do with kids in Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. The dam is located 33 miles southeast of Las Vegas at the Nevada-Arizona border.

According to Frommers, Hoover Dam is one of the best 100 places to take your kids. If you have more time, rent a houseboat and stay at Lake Mead.

Three: Fountains of Bellagio
The popular water fountain show at the Bellagio is a must see for everyone visiting Las Vegas. These complimentary shows are professionally choreographed by water designer Clair Kahn and her 30 team members.

According to USAToday, it is a 8 ½-acre body of water, illuminated at night by about 5,000 lights, 798 “minishooters,” 208 swaying “oarsmen,” 192 “super shooters” and 16 “extreme shooters” capable of gushing nearly 500 feet in the air.

Four: The Big Apple Coaster and Arcade and more
If the kids are old enough for roller coaster rides, try The Big Apple Coaster in New York New York resort. It is known as the world’s first coaster to feature a 180-degree “heartline” twist and dive maneuver.

In the arcade are carnival games and coin-operated video games. Adventuredome Theme Park at Circus Circus offers 4D excitement on ice. Race down the frozen cliffs of the Antartica in Mumble’s Wild Ride or join Dora and her friends in a high-speed chase to protect the animals of the rainforest. Get your kids to say “Swiper no swiping!”

Five: M & M’s World
How about four floors of M & M merchandise? Pens, shirts, blankets, beach towels, jewelry, coffee mugs, crystal, jackets and of course a variety of M&M treats are waiting for you and your kids in Las Vegas.

You can catch a 3D animated M&M show too. The show is available every 20 minutes. Get personalized M&Ms and watch them while they ‘engrave’ the names you have chosen. This will be the happiest place for you and your kids.
