5 Places for Holiday Shopping in the USA



Deciding the best places for holiday shopping in the USA is not an easy task. It all depends on individual taste, shopping style and the holiday shopping list. Where would you go for your holiday shopping this year?

One: New York City
When it comes to holiday shopping, New York City has it all. The city has three international airports, over 90 airlines flying into New York City. It offers an extensive list of shops for every budget, taste and holiday shopping list.

Macy’s Herald Square, the company’s flagship store is “America’s Largest Department Store” with 11 levels and covering an entire city block. Known for the Thanksgiving Parade and window displays, Macy’s Herald Square is a shopper’s dream and also a tourist destination in New York City.

This iconic New York City building has 150 years of history and was home to the first modern-day escalator.

After Herald Square, walk along Fifth Avenue between 39th and 60th Streets for the best designer stores in the United States. Get the latest, greatest, cheapest, tastiest and weirdest along this Avenue. Stop by the Rockefeller Center and check out the holiday decorations and gigantic Christmas tree.

Two: Central Valley’s Woodbury Common Premium Outlets
If you prefer to shop in outlet stores, we suggest combining New York City with a day trip to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley. Central Valley is about an hour 10 minute drive without traffic.

There are organized tours from New York City to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. Check with your hotel concierge for times and pick up points for shopping trips to the outlet stores, or make a reservation through the outlet’s website.

Three: Baltimore
With a sales tax of only 6% and a variety of holiday events for shoppers of all ages, Baltimore is a great place for your holiday shopping. From the end of November to early January, shoppers can join Harbor East’s evening full of holiday jolly- storefronts decorated by the region’s finest artists. The streets and boutiques are filled with carolers, refreshments and more.

For the young and the young at heart, check out the Polar Express 4-D Experience. It is a 20-minute show based on Chris Van Allsburg’s book with the same name.

Baltimore is served by over 15 airlines and is 39 miles from Washington D.C.

Four: Dallas
Dallas has almost 30 shopping centers and about 20,000 retail stores.

The city knows how to celebrate the holidays in a big way, with holiday light festivals, musical performances and of course the grand Neiman Marcus holiday window displays on Main Street.

Five: Austin
Austin is a three hour 16 minute drive from Dallas. You are in for a treat if you are looking for western wear, cowboy hats and unique cowboy boots from Texas. Allens Boots at the South Congress shopping district has over 4,000 pairs of boots on display.
