5 Things to Do in Seattle

If you told your friends you were heading to Seattle, chances are they would recommend a trip to Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and the Original Starbucks cafe. Besides these iconic places to visit, Seattle has a whole lot more to offer.

Located in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle, also known as Emerald City, is surrounded by evergreen trees, mountains, and water. It is only 140 miles from Vancouver, Canada and 173 miles from Portland, Oregon. The city and the surrounding areas provide plenty of things to do for all types of travelers including foodies and adventure seekers.

Going to Seattle and don’t know what to do besides Pike Place Market and Space Needle? Here are 5 things to do in Seattle:

Boeing Tour

This 4.5 hours guided tour will take you behind the scenes to view the assembly of the advanced 787 Dreamliner, the 777 and the 747 Jumbo Jet. The Boeing factory is in Everett, about 29 miles from the Seattle city center.

The Boeing Tour also includes the Future of Flight Aviation Center gallery with aviation exhibits and many hands-on exhibits. The exhibits also include a 777 jet engine and a section of the new 787 Dreamliner fuselage.

Children must be 48-inches or taller to attend the 90-minute factory portion of the tour. Purses, cellphones, backpacks and other personal items are not allowed during the tour. You have to be in reasonably good health to enjoy this tour as you’ll need to walk about half a mile and climb several flights of stairs.

The tour includes pick up at Seattle area hotels if you are touring with either Tours Northwest  or Tours of Seattle.

Winery and Waterfall Tour

Seattle is surrounded by award winning, independent family run wineries. A tour to the wineries will give you the opportunity to enjoy the Emerald City’s greenery and views of the mountains and waters. The short road trip to the wineries usually includes crossing Evergreen Point Bridge, the world’s second longest floating bridge, to Woodinville.

Woodinville is where you’ll find 700 wineries. Some of the top names include Columbia, Chateau St Michelle and JM Cellars.

The tour includes a stop at Snoqualmie Falls, a 268-foot waterfall made famous by Hollywood films like Twin Peaks and The Vanishing. After Snoqualmie Falls, the last stop is at Boehm’s Chocolates in Issaquah for chocolate samples and to shop for souvenirs.
