1. Myrtle Beach SC


Located along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach is about a two-hour drive from Charleston and a six and a half hour drive from Washington DC. It’s an ideal destination for families, couples of all ages, college students and anyone wanting a dose of sunshine and southern hospitality.

The average temperature in March is 68 and in April is 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Myrtle Beach is more than just the beach. The Myrtle Beach area is home to more than 100 golf courses, a vibrant craft beer scene, two nature rich state parks (Huntington Beach State Park and Myrtle Beach State Park) and “Carolina Coastal Cuisine.”

2. Sunset Beach, NC


A beach at the southernmost end of the Brunswick Island chain in North Carolina, Sunset Beach is old-fashioned and quiet. Best suited for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sunset Beach is also suitable for those wanting a digital detox weekend.

Enjoy the sunrise and sunset or take in all the natural beauty and the quietness of the beach.

Sunset Beach is only 32 miles north of Myrtle Beach and 191 miles from Charlotte.

3. Marco Island, FL


Marco Island is located just under a four-hour drive from Orlando and a two-hour drive from Miami. It is the Gulf Coast island retreat facing the Gulf of Mexico. Visit Florida stated that the island is the only developed island in Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands.

Enjoy the unspoiled beaches and parks, and take shelling excursions, canoe trip and boat rides around the island. The temperature in March hovers around 81 degrees Fahrenheit, and in April and May, the temperatures go up to 84 and 88 respectively.

If time permits, take a quick ride to Naples historic downtown, 18 miles away. Experience a bayside bar or check out the art galleries.

4. Newport Beach, CA


For breathtaking sunset and sunrise views at every turn, sea shells, positive beach vibe, head over to Newport Beach. Newport Beach is a coastal city in southern California, about 91 miles from San Diego and 368 miles from Phoenix AZ.

At Newport Beach, you get 10 miles of coastline suitable for surfing, swimming, or sunbathing. For a one-stop family fun day, check out Balboa Fun Zone where you’ll find the old-fashioned Ferris wheel and arcade games. The best things to do are surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and body surfing.

5. US Virgin Islands


Did you know the US Virgin Islands (USVI) of St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island are US territories? Americans do not need a passport to visit US Virgin Islands. Added, this year marks the 100th year anniversary of Transfer Day, and the USVI are giving $300 in VI spending credits for historical/cultural tours and activities to tourists visiting in 2017. Reservations must be made between October 1, 2016, to October 1, 2017, and a minimum stay of three nights.
