It may be hard to imagine that St. Augustine, the oldest city in the nation is in Florida, a state filled with technologically advanced theme parks, beaches and snowbirds. This Ancient City is located just south of Jacksonville, about a 49 minute drive.

St. Augustine’s mild climate is suitable year round. Visit the Old City and tour the Castilla de San Marcos, Fort Matanzas and stroll along the cobblestone streets through the city’s oldest homes, cafes, bars, inns, shops and unique architecture of Ponce de Leon Hotel.

Take a romantic stroll or go on a horse-drawn carriage and take a glimpse of the past, through downtown Savannah. This city is filled with cobblestone pavement, historical sites and gourmet local food joints.

While in Asheville, visit the Biltmore Estate with 250 rooms, 8,000 acres of backyard with Antler Hill Village and winery, carriages, gardens and many more attractions. George Washington Vanderbilt built Biltmore House in the late 1800s. The estate is a great place to find unique North Carolina’s gifts, Appalachian crafts, dry goods, old-fashioned candy and home décor.

Drive the scenic route of the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit North Carolina Arboretum. The Arboretum is a 434 acres garden with trails, Southern Appalachian flowers, exhibitions and gift shops.
